Home Safety with Dreambaby

April 30, 2018
Ok ladies, let’s talk about the S word – SAFETY!

Having kids around the house means every little detail needs to be thought of when it comes to safety. Even the slightest oversight could end in disaster.

I’ve made a list of some important safety products I have around my place thanks to Dreambaby®. It’s a brand I’ve loved for years since having kids, and you need to know about some of this stuff! Trust me guys, it’ll change your life.

2 Up Step Stool
I like to give the girls independence now that they are much older, like brushing their teeth on their own and helping me with things around the house. We use the Dreambaby® 2-Up Step Stool to help them get to higher surfaces safely. It has a grip top, two handles to help make it easier for their little hands to carry and it’s very easy to clean. They can grab it whenever they need it and I don’t have to panic that they’ll hurt themselves.

Soft Touch Potty Seat
Madison has been fully toilet trained for a while but now is starting to use our toilet (yay!). No more potty!  She loves using this Soft Touch Potty Seat as it makes her feel like a real grown up. We take it when we go out to the grandparents’ house and she feels much more independent when she uses it. There’s an anti-slip surface which makes it easy to position on your existing toilet, and it’s made with high moulded back and sides for premium comfort.

Watch Your Step® Anti-Slip Bath Mat with “Too Hot” Indicator
Have you seen this? I love this clever little bath mat. There are multiple suction caps to keep it secured, and it changes colour when the water is too hot. Perfect for helping to preventing burns and uncomfortably hot bath water.

Bath Tub Spout Cover
Anyone else’s child find the need to touch the bath spout, as well as knocking themselves?
I’ve finally gotten around to getting one of these. It protects the spout with a soft cover so nobody gets bumped and bruised. Of course, this is not a substitute for adult supervision, but this can help avoid knocks and give you even more of peace of mind – must have when baby-proofing.

Bed Rails
Madison is in her “big bed” and I’m such a stress head that she’s gonna fall! Having a bed rail has been my sanity-saving best friend. We use the Harrogate bed rail, and it’s so easy to assemble and disassemble, and it’s got a breathable mesh, which is very important for me in picking a bed rail, and really gives this mumma peace of mind! We have the navy blue colour and it really looks lovely against her white bed.

Motion Sensor LED Night Light
Madison and Macie still need a light on at night. We tired out this movement night light and it’s worked wonders. It automatically turns on in the dark when movement is detected. So, if they’re sound asleep, it won’t switch on, but if they wake up scared, it’ll light up and reassure them that everything is ok. It uses a long life LED globe and can easily be wall mounted or stand upright.

Peli’s Bathtub Play Pouch
How many bath toys does your child have? We still have LOADS! This play pouch is super easy to install and so cute! It actually makes the girls want to pack their toys back in as they get to open and close the pelican’s mouth! My bathroom has never been so tidy!

Bump Guard® Corner Protectors
I have SO many of these – they’re a total baby-proofing staple. Those little ones are so curious, and even the most unassuming corners can cause injury. You can never have too many I say! They help prevent bumps and scratches from sharp edges and corners, so they’re ideal for desks, tables and shelving.

I really can’t emphasise enough the importance of safety at home with kids. Whether you have kids yourself or you’ve got friends and family visiting with tots, always make safety your first priority. I hope that some of these gadgets will help make your home a safe and fun environment for kids to enjoy! Let me know if you’ve tried and loved any products, too!

Kym Nappy Bag Review- Storksak

March 21, 2018

I have had my fair share of nappy bags and have always found something wrong with each one... until I was introduced to Storksak. I used my first Storksak bag a few years ago now and it’s still going strong. I started using one of their backpacks and from that moment on I fell in love with the brand! So when I got given the opportunity to review one of their new nappy bags I was beyond happy.

The Kym features
Two side drop in pockets- (fits both my girls bottles)
Detachable long should straps and patented stroller straps
Seven internal pockets with one zipper
Deep slip front pocket
Durable leather
Metal chunky zips
Zipped insulated bottle holder- Fluids are kept warm or cool for up to four hours

Madison and Macie are no longer babies, but I still need to take just as much out for long days out, including things for myself and love how the Kym fits EVERYTHING. Carrying this around really makes me feel stylish, comfortable and confident that it will last a long time.

Ladies trust me ! If you are looking for a nappy bag, this is the one.

Toilet training - My tips

March 14, 2018
The time has come to start toilet training Macie. I honestly cannot remember exactly what I did when I toilet trained Madison, so this time I decided to just go with it.

It’s worked SO well, I wanted to share what we did with you all. Feel free to comment if any of these worked for you or what you did differently.

Don’t start too early- I tried to start early with Madison and it just delayed us more. With Macie I waited till she was ready, She showed signs she was ready; sitting down and copying when Madison sat down on potty.

Make your child feel special and grown up- This will help them engage in the process, show them your proud of their achievements.

Take them shopping for big girl/boy underwear. Let them pick the colour and characters they like, and encourage them to share their successes with family and siblings.

Start with pull up nappys for 1-2 weeks- Macie was very excited that she was using “undies” like Madison! She loved pulling her nappy pants down and up again- that really helped her get excited about the whole process. We used baby love as we found it easy for her to pull up and down as it has the stretchy waist. Shop Babylove HERE

Patience- When I started to feel Macie was ready, we went to the toilet every 10 mins!! Even if we were out- now I’m slowly working it up to 15 minutes, 20 minutes etc. Don’t get frustrated if it takes a long time- potty training does take a while and they can feel us getting all worked up.

New potty- Madison had a potty and Macie knows that was Madison’s. We decided to use a “New” Special potty; Dreambaby recently launched a new potty called the EZY-POTTY. Designed to make the first stage of potty-training easier, Her special potty was a hit! It has a ergonomic contoured back rear for that added support, very lightweight making it easy for Macie to carry it into the car ready to visit family and show off her potty. Hope these tips helped.

Bed time in Ergo Pouch Australia

September 18, 2017
Ergo Pouch is a great Australian company founded in 2008 by a mum who was sleep deprived new mum Alina Sack. Alina was inspired to develop her first ergo sleeping bag with her first son who was a 'challenged sleeper'. She was determined to make it work, got sewing and made her first Sleeping bag and it worked. From there Ergo Pouch was created. Ergo Pouch is award winning, ergonomically designed swaddles, sleeping bags, sleep suit bags and pyjamas.

Made from breathable, skin-friendly natural fibres, Ergo Pouch gives mothers peace of mind their babies and toddler are using only the best.

The girls and myself got to have a look at the 2017-2018 lookbook and use a few products and give it the thumbs up. Here's a sneak peak of look book and what's available at Ergo Pouch.

Cocoons- Swaddle and Sleep Bag
They are designed with a zipper, it keeps Bub swaddled and snug. Easy to use, and hard for Bub to escape from. Organic cotton, and can be used in all seasons with particular layers fabric changes for each season. Suitable for buns to 24 months

Sleeping Bags- Tog rated sleeping bags
These sleeping bags have a 400+ thread count organic cotton outer with stretch inserts on the sides and shoulders, which is great for moving more freely but also stay comfy while they sleep. This is a good transition from the cocoon and can be used up to 24 months.

Sleep suit bags- Convertible sleeping bags.
Keep your child warm without the need for adding extra blankets. It converts from a sleeping bag to a suite with legs using zippers. Super soft made from organic cotton and bamboo, stretchy inserts, grip pads for walking and a four way zipper. Madison my four year old used this and loved it. She could still easily walk around in it, loved how soft it felt and was and I felt happy knowing that even though she kicked her blankets off she was still warm in this suit. She's been using it everyday and keeps asking me for another one for her sister... so sweet.

Layers- Tog rated sleep wear
Organic cotton, tog rated, wonderul for all seasons. Macie used the long sleeve layer, it fit her nicely, felt so soft and easy to take off with two way zipper.

Final thoughts
I really like that Ergo Pouch is perfect for new Borns and toddlers, having the tog temps is definitely a plus and makes life easier knowing how many layers to add or take off your child. Highly recommend. I just love this brand was created by a mum, I was once a very sleep deprived mum, and there will be many more sleep deprived mums to come.. nice to know a mum thought of this to help us all out.
