Teslachair experience at Body Catalyst

Hi everyone! If you’ve been following me over at @madeformadison you’ll already have seen my latest awesome find, Body Catalyst. Body Catalyst has been around for over 6 years now. They are Australia’s largest and leading body shaping and wellness company, combining a holistic approach with non-invasive and clinically proven body shaping treatments. As a mum of two girls, my body has never been the same, and I’m sure I’m not the only one! I suffer from bad lower back pain, so bad that I haven’t lifted my girls in the past three years. It’s very sad, but unfortunately, that was my reality. On top of the lower back pain, it turns out that my stomach muscles are separated by the width of three fingers—another common thing after childbirth. My bladder is worn, and I’ve been suffering from mild incontinence. It goes without saying that I wouldn’t trade my children for anything, but people don’t talk enough about how hard it is on the body, and how long it can take to recover. Not being able to lift my girls or carry things easily has been so hard, and I feel like I’m missing out on opportunities because of my pain.

So when I was offered the opportunity to review the TeslaChair pelvic floor strengthening treatment at Body Catalyst and I learned that it could help with all my issues, I literally screamed with excitement! The process started with a very thorough consultation at their clinic In Burwood Westfield. The body shaping and wellness expert asked me a series of questions about my diet, Lifestyle, health issues or concerns, and any body issues including various aches and pains. My therapist was AMAZING! I absolutely loved how comfortable and at ease she made me feel. She addressed all my questions and concerns and made me feel calm and excited about the whole experience.

All the therapists were fantastic and very pleasant to deal with. The therapists at Body Catalyst also have knowledge and prowess in nutrition, which I think plays such an important part of recovering from the strain our bodies undergo during pregnancy and childbirth. Healthy living is critical in this whole process, and the Body Catalyst staff were very helpful in this regard as well. The TelsaChair technology is aimed at helping women who have experienced childbirth. Oftentimes childbirth results in abdominal separation and creates pelvic floor concerns. Fixing these problems requires muscle strengthening, and the TeslaChair is designed to do this with a series of simple treatments..

“The TeslaChair is a medical device (registered on ARTG) developed for treating weakened Pelvic floor muscles and urinary incontinence using Functional Magnetic Stimulation (FMS) Technology. The pulsed magnetic field generated by the device causes the muscles of the Pelvic floor to contract, which results in increased strength and endurance of the pelvic region and pelvic floor muscles. This therapy is suitable for all kinds of urinary and faecal Incontinence as well as chronic pain in the pelvis and back.”

First session on the Teslachair

I completed 6 sessions on the chair. In each 30 minute session the TeslaChair stimulates up to 50,000 muscle contractions, and it’s completely painless! I could feel the paddle on my lower back, buttocks and upper thighs.

Before I started the treatment

- I had to use a hot water bottle on my lower back every night;

- I couldn’t lift simple things like full shopping bags;

- Literally needed to run to the toilet so I didn’t wee my pants;

- Felt weak walking up the stairs.

At the beginning of my treatment I had to fill in a questionnaire that asked about the frequency and intensity of various issues such as incontinence and pain. After 6 treatments my questionnaire score that started at 4 was reduced to 0 points! I also benefited from the below results;

- My tummy feels stronger;

- I now can run up my stairs feeling strong;

- Not only can I hold shopping bags, but I can even hold heavier items; -

- I have not needed a hot water bottle on my lower back;

- No lower back pain;

- My pelvic floor muscles feel stronger;

- No incontinence.

This treatment has truly changed my life! I will forever be grateful to be given the opportunity to try this, but I'll also be continuing as a paying customer.

Dreaming of our next roadtrip using Elinz dash cam and DVD player

Alright, this isolation has me dreaming of our next road trip. It’s looking like international travel will be off the agenda for quite a while, but I’m really hoping it’s safe enough to return to more local travel soon!

One thing I’m super excited about using when we get back out on the road is our new dash cam and in-car DVD player!

To be honest, I’d never really thought about getting a dash cam, I assumed they were just for trucks and other delivery vehicles. But, we’ve been loving the Elinz Dash Cam on our short essential trips to the supermarket!

The best part is the dash cam can record the front or the rear of your car, so it’s really handy for parking as our car doesn’t have a fancy built in camera.

We also got the Elinz In-Car DVD player, which keeps the girls entertained on long drives. They’re getting to that age now where they understand why the drive is taking a long time, but they still need some entertainment to keep them interested.

I can’t wait to get back out on the road and use our new car gadgets! I feel like a super mum now because I’ll be able to use the rear cam to park anywhere I like haha! It’s also really handy to have if we were ever involved in an accident. The camera can record high quality video, which can be used to trace the cause of road incidents.

What I love

Singing in the rain with our new raincoats

This year we will be welcoming the rain with our new raincoats!!

Madison seriously feels like a rock star with this one! It’s so cute – she has been performing her own concerts and Macie has been in her cheer squad. It’s so adorable to watch. Mental wellbeing really does start from a young age. I can already see the difference its making to her learning and development, too.

If you’ve read my blog before, you’ll know our family are huge fans of Leapfrog. The girls love their toys, and as a Mum, anything that they enjoy while learning is a total bonus. Today I’m sharing our experience with one of their newest toys – the Shapes and Sharing Picnic Basket.

They obviously chose the pink set, and it’s great for interactive learning anywhere we go. So far we’ve taken it to the park, and to the grandparents!

Remington i-LIGHT Compact Control hair removal review

Who has time to shave or wax!? Definitely not me, and if there are any Mums out there who find the time, please share your secrets! I’ve been trialing out i-LIGHT Compact Control as a permanent hair reduction solution, and loved it so much I had to share!
Life is busy with two young girls, I just can’t keep up with appointments for laser hair removal or waxing. Being able to do this treatment in my own home after the girls are in bed is incredible.

Here’s how it works:

When to use: A typical hair reduction plan during a full hair growth cycle includes:
● Treatments 1-6: plan two weeks apart
● Treatments 7-8: plan four weeks apart
● Treatments 9+: Treat as needed, until desired results are achieved.
The efficiency of hair reduction varies from person to person according to body area, hair colour, and how the device is used. A typical full hair growth cycle may take 18-24 months. During this time, multiple treatment sessions are required to achieve permanent hair reduction.

How to use:
● Check your skin tone against the chart
● Ensure you have not been tanning in the sun. Sun exposure causes high levels of melanin to be present and exposes the skin to higher risk of burns or blisters following treatment
● Ensure the area to be treated is clean and free from oils, deodorants, perfume, make up, lotions and creams. Shave the hair from the area to be treated, and ensure the skin is clean and dry
● Select your mode from either power mode (default mode) or sensitive mode (for those who find the power mode to be too intense)
● Before your first full treatment, test the i-LIGHT® Compact Control on a small patch of skin and wait 24 hours to ensure there are no adverse reactions.
● Once all is fine after the test, you can begin your bi-weekly treatments

Treatment Tips:
● For best results, avoid overlapping flashes. This helps prevent exposure to more energy than is necessary to suppress hair growth. It also ensures that you get the maximum use of the bulb
● For the most effective results, always use the highest intensity operating mode that does not cause discomfort on the skin. The level you use should feel warm on your skin, but should never cause discomfort
● You may notice that bony areas, such as elbows, shins and ankles, are more sensitive during treatment. This is normal and should not be cause for alarm. To avoid this sensitivity, try stretching the skin away from the bony area during treatment
● To use the IPL you must not have had laser in the past 6 months and you can’t have had major sun exposure for 2 weeks

My Experience
Alright, so how did a Mum like me go doing her own hair removal?! Well, I can honestly say this worked wonders for me! I’ve been using for 6 weeks and the results have been amazing. I used on my underarms – the peskiest area for hair, am I right? – and next I’ll be tackling my legs.
It was easier to use than I expected, and I didn’t get any irritation at all, even with my sensitive skin. If you’re short on time and sick of trying to keep up with shaving, this is for you. Shop HERE

What We Loved

Well, aside from the obvious benefit of having someone clean my floors while I’m at work – or lounging around on the couch – we loved the DEEBOT’s sleek appearance. Sometimes appliances can be ugly and ruin the aesthetic of a home, but this modern design looked really stylish. It was reliable and easy to understand, and would be ideal for anyone looking to simplify home cleaning! It could even talk to us with it’s in-built Amazon Echo technology. I feel like a very tech-savvy Mum right now.

Anyone else feel like they are constantly throwing food away? I used to feel like our deli meats, fruits, and left overs went off so fast. I really try to be mindful with what we waste but sometimes I just can’t keep up.

Some of you may remember I recently got the Sunbeam Foodsaver and it has seriously transformed how we store food. Recently I got the opportunity to test out another Foodsaver by Sunbeam, and as with everything I promote on my blog, I wanted to give it a good trial before I share it with you. I only want to recommend things I genuinely love.

The VS7850 FoodSaver® comes with a compact stainless-steel design, and is Foodsaver’s premium storage selection on the market. It keeps food fresher for longer using the built-in features, and can be used in the fridge, freezer or pantry to extend food life by up to five days. It includes a built-in, easy to use accessory hose compatible with Fresh Containers and Zipper bags – an automatic marinate program to marinate in around 12 minutes, a moist foods setting, roll storage and cutter and a simple one touch operation. RRP: $299.00 AUD.

It’s so simple to use, having the zipper bags is very convenient, and the marinate function meant we could have super flavoursome meals fast! My family were very impressed with the meals we were able to make and store. Now, all our food now stays fresher for much longer. We’re wasting less food – and therefore less money – and we’re much more prepared for those busy nights when we need something quick! And let’s be honest, Mums – those nights happen far too often when you’ve got kids!

Anybody else a little sensitive to certain jewellery?! Sometimes I’ll experience a reaction to something for no apparent reason – and an itchy neck or wrist is so not ideal! Luckily I have found a great little brand to help with that. S-kin Jewellery is made with sterling silver and gold filled – which is 10 times thicker than gold plated. As a result, all pieces are hypoallergenic and tarnish resistant, meaning you can wear your jewellery reaction-free for longer.

Storksak travel bag review

If you read my last review on my Storksak Nappy Bag, you would know how obsessed I am with this brand! Much to my delight, they’ve expanded into even more than just nappy bags! Think travel bags, duffle bags, backpacks… the lot.

Not only is the quality of their bags superb, they’re super spacious – and parents can never have enough space, trust me. The products now also come in a great range of colours, and I always receive tons of compliments when I’m using them! I’m always excited about practical products that look great, too.

Storksak was created in 2003 by Melanie Marshall and Suzi Bergman, with the view to create a line of luxury baby changing bags which didn’t compromise style for function. They sure achieved that! Then, in 2006 Babymel London was established, aiming to offer parents thoughtfully designed, fashionable changing bags at an accessible price point. Nine years on, Babymel is sold in more than 20 countries worldwide, bringing the brand incredible international recognition.

When I asked the girls to help me out with trialling these bags, they were more than excited. Such little fashionistas – not to mention blog assistants in the making! We recently took the Storksak Duffle Travel Bag and the Babymel Backpacks on a trip to Canberra to put them to the ultimate test. An overnight trip AND a flight with kids – if the bags do well on this trip, they can handle anything.

Storksak DUFFLE Bag $259.99

Hubby and I used the Duffle Bag for our luggage on the Canberra trip, as it’s a super lightweight bag that has a removable shoulder strap – ideal for budget airlines! Inside we discovered the hanging organiser that’s hidden within the bag. This was super convenient for us as we can pack, hang up, and use without unpacking. I love traveling but I hate the instant mess that comes with living out of a stuffed suitcase in hotel rooms!

If you’re a frequent flier, this bag would work wonders, as it fits neatly in the overhead compartment of most planes. No need to check in your baggage.

The grab handle was great for getting it in and out of the car, and the expandable zipper means there’s a little extra space hiding for when you need it. The bag is water resistant, too, which is really handy with my two little spillers running around! It’s also great to know it won’t be ruined if you’re stuck in bad weather or anything – there’s nothing worse than getting caught in the rain with new arm candy.

Babymel Backpacks $34.99

The girls took their new Babymel Zip and Zoe Backpacks on the trip, and they absolutely loved having their own luggage in their chosen designs. They felt like proper grown ups on a girly holiday, bless them.

They both mentioned how comfortable the bags were, as they come with padded shoulder straps and a grab handle at the top. The best bit for me as a Mum was how easy the bags are to clean. You can pop the bags in the machine on a cold wash and get rid of those lunch spills and pen marks in an instant. I’ll definitely be using these for school, holidays, sleepovers, and days out in the future! If they love carrying their own bags, it’s one less thing for Mum and Dad to worry about.

WIth all the talk of parabens and the dangers of plastics these days, I was so pleased to find out that the bags are Phthalate free. That means the nasties that are often added to plastic products to make them more flexible won’t be found in the Babymel backpacks – phew. I’m taking small steps to reduce the amount of harmful plastic in our lives, so products like this are fantastic.

The girls just love them, and they’re obsessed with packing up into it before we go out. In Canberra, they managed to fit all their clothes and a couple of toys in, too, so space is certainly not an issue anymore. From a Mum’s perspective, the easy cleaning is an absolute winner for me.
