Top tips to declutter the home

January 22, 2020
With the New Year in full swing and the festivities behind us, what better way to start the new year than decluttering and organising your home.

Below are some top tips I like to follow:

#1 Come Prepared
Ever find yourself half-way through cleaning your house and regretting your decision? The best way to combat this is choosing a day to tackle this task where you have minimal errands planned and can designate 2-3 hours to the job. That way you won’t feel distracted or overwhelmed. Make sure to also have items like shopping bags for items you don’t want to keep and tape measure for measuring out space for new storage options.

#2 Divide and Conquer
Let’s be honest. We all have an inner hoarder inside of us that always questions what if? When it comes to getting rod of certain items. The best way to conquer this is to take everything you need to get rid of and make three piles, a yes pile, a no pile and a maybe pile. With the items from the no pile consider selling them to make a bit of extra cash or donate them to charity to do a good deed.

#3 Consider External Storage Options
Do you ever find your house full of items that you just don’t need all year round such as Christmas decorations, seasonal sports equipment and even things like big Winter coats? It might be a good idea to place them in storage to create extra space and less clutter. This is also a great way to deal with the “maybe pile” of items from step #2 to see whether you really need these items or not.

#4 Create More Space with Boxes
Do you find yourself rummaging around in the morning looking for everyday items? One way to overcome this is by creating extra space with boxes that you can put everyday items such as shoes, coats and bags into by the front door. This is also a great way to organise your kid’s playroom so it stays tidy and nothing goes missing. An excellent company is Hire a Box  This is efficient and stress-free way to hire boxes for as little as $2.40 or buy boxes from $3.90. They have three different box options so you’re bound to find something that will suit your needs.

Top 5 hacks to store kids’ costumes and party decorations

August 16, 2018
Kids absolutely love a party and dressing up, but what we don’t realise until it’s too late is how much space is actually required to store tutus and superhero masks. Too often party decorations get lost and we just keep purchasing more even though they’re probably hiding in the back of the garage. Here are a few hacks to help store your child’s costumes and decorations.

Make space in the wardrobe

Consider the dress up clothes as part of the wardrobe collection and leave hanging space. If the costume is suitable to be folded, reserve a drawer for it. If it’s too hard to incorporate the clothes and the costumes, consider using a portable rack.

Categorise the costumes

Hiring a box from a company such as Hire-a-Box is an efficient way to store costumes and decorations. Categorising the costumes from superhero to princess to animal will also make it easier to identify them when they’re needed.

Vacuum seal the fiddly costumes

Some costumes have more accessories than others and you may have some that have bits and pieces that can easily get lost. Fold the costume and group the little accessories into a little bag. Put all the items into a vacuum seal bag to minimise the size and keep everything together.

Store balloons in zip lock bags

Keep your balloons in zip lock bags, away from extreme temperatures and sunlight to avoid popping too many of them when it’s time to use them. You can tap a small amount of talcum powder into the bag to stop the balloons from sticking. If you colour coordinate the balloons, it becomes an added bonus.

Use a mini craft drawer unit to store your decorations

One drawer for balloons, one drawer for streamers… you get the idea! There may even be space for birthday cards, wrapping paper and confetti.

Feel healthy inside and out tips using Carusos

June 25, 2018
This year I was lucky enough to attend the Kids Blogger Brunch and meet some of my fellow mummy influencers and connect with some amazing brands.

I was really excited to see Carusos at the event again this year, as I really fell in love with their brand story last year. Caruso’s Natural Health is 100% Australian-owned family company established in 1982 by Frank Caruso. I’m always swowed when I hear Frank speak – he is truly inspirational.

Frank's philosophy is simple; "Make time for good health and you'll always have enough health for a good time!” I’ve really been trying to live by this ever since I first heard it, and I think it’s such a great message to give to my kids when teaching them the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Frank inspired me to share with you how I make time for good health in my family. As a Mum on-the-go, these tips help keep me feeling beautiful inside and out!

Get Your Vitamins In
I’ve been taking the Caruso’s Women’s Super Multi for years now, and it’s really become part of my morning routine. I used to struggle to remember to take supplements, but working it into your daily schedule is the key to consistency. I wake up, drink a glass of water (for that healthy glow) and take my vitamins before I even check my phone. Once it’s a habit, you’ll never forget.

Smile
I’ve learned to love my smile – when you’re a Mum, you’re so focused on keeping your kids happy and healthy that you naturally get over a few of those nagging beauty hang-ups. It sounds silly, but making time to smile, either at my girls, at my husband, or at a stranger in a shop makes all the difference. Mental health is just as important as physical health. Remember what you’re grateful for, and smile about it!

Hydrate
Another part of my beauty routine is hydration. Lots and LOTS of water. I try adding some mint or lemon in my water to give it a nicer flavour – and the infusions are really good for you too. Try citrus fruit for detoxing, berries for a low-fructose sweetness hit, or grapefruit to rev up your metabolism.

Go for Collagen
Collagen seems to be on everybody’s mind in 2018 – and it’s no surprise. Collagen is what’s responsible for healthy hair, nails and skin, and taking a collagen builder supplement can help your body support its natural production. I take Caruso’s Super Collagen Builder, which is a powerful mineral and antioxidant formula packed with essential nutrients to give you that healthy, glowing look. Forget brittle nails and split ends – using a collagen builder can strengthen even the weakest nails. As for my skin – ladies, it’s never looked so good!

Eating The Rainbow
It sounds cliché, but the more colours on your plate, the better. I try to eat veggie-packed meals every day, and make sure the girls’ lunchboxes are packed full of nutrients too. Not only will your skin thank you for it, you’ll find yourself with buckets of energy, and an immune system that can sustain the winter chill.

Have you tried Caruso’s? What’s your favourite product? The range is available in over 3,000 pharmacies and health food stores throughout Australia, so get started on your winter health kick!
