Mummas Phone protection is sorted

September 14, 2018
Let’s talk protection...for your phone, I mean!

I’m sure I’m not the only Mum out there who’s constantly finding my phone in tiny hands! The girls are always taking my phone and trying to play games on it when I’m not looking – so sneaky sometimes! Not only is my phone covered in germs I don’t want them touching, it’s resulted in my screen getting smashed so many times. Once the tears and choruses of ‘sorry Mummy’ are over, I’m left having to find the time to get my screen repaired. Any busy Mum knows that’s just not a priority.

Instead, I’ve decided to protect my phone from getting broken in the first place. Revolutionary, I know. I popped into my local FONE KING the other day at my local Westfield in Burwood, and got myself the Ultimate 360 Protection bundle.

The 360 protection includes
Super shield 2 in 1 shock impact protection-case
Super shield gel screen protection
Super shield gel rear protector
Super shield 9h nano camera lens protector

This package is so worth your investment. It’s just $129.95 at the moment, saving you $40 off the usual retail price. You can’t put a price on protecting your tech, especially if something happened and you needed to call for help.

If you’re unsure which product is right for you, John at FONE KING talked me through all the pros and cons of the protection products, and he was so helpful in finding me the right option.

Mums, if your phone needs protection from tiny tappers, get protected now!

5 Hair Care Tips for Time-Poor Mums

August 08, 2018
As a mum finding the time to pamper yourself is not always top on your list of priorities. Between getting the kids readymealtimes and play dates, it’s no surprise that we don’t get to the hairdresser as regularly as we’d like to. Luckily Schwarzkopf Professional has some simple tips to help keep hair as healthy as possible between salon visits.

1. Find the right type of shampoo and conditioner for your hair and invest in it! Although it may seem straightforward, you’d be surprised by how much of a difference using the correct hair care for your hair type can have. Schwarzkopf Professional’s new BC Bonacure range includes six different lines that are tailored to cater for all hair types.

2. If you have coloured hair, help the colour last as long as possible between salon visits by using colour locking products. Schwarzkopf Professional’s BC PH 4.5 Color Freeze range uses patent pH4.5 balancer technology to seal the surface of coloured hair, and freeze the colour pigments – keeping the hair colour salon fresh for longer.

3. Work a hair treatment into your routine for once a week. Not only do hair treatments deeply moisturise your hair, they also restore its inner strength and elasticity. For the weeks where you don’t have a spare 10 minutes for a hair treatment, give Schwarzkopf Professional’s BC Hyaluronic Moisture Kick BB Hydra Pearl a try. It’s a lightweight leave-in treatment that rebalances the hairs moisture levels, and the best part about it is you don’t have to worry about washing it out.

4. Split ends are something that we all struggle with, especially when we haven’t visited our hairdresser in a couple of months. Thankfully, Schwarzkopf Professional BC Peptide Repair Rescue Sealed Ends is here to save the day. The lightweight care balm seals and prevents split ends letting you put off that much-needed trim for a little bit longer.

5. Love your blonde hair, but not a fan of the regrowth that comes with it? Opt for a root stretch. Not only are root stretches trending at the moment; they’re also the perfect way to lengthen the time between salon visits.

Feel healthy inside and out tips using Carusos

June 25, 2018
This year I was lucky enough to attend the Kids Blogger Brunch and meet some of my fellow mummy influencers and connect with some amazing brands.

I was really excited to see Carusos at the event again this year, as I really fell in love with their brand story last year. Caruso’s Natural Health is 100% Australian-owned family company established in 1982 by Frank Caruso. I’m always swowed when I hear Frank speak – he is truly inspirational.

Frank's philosophy is simple; "Make time for good health and you'll always have enough health for a good time!” I’ve really been trying to live by this ever since I first heard it, and I think it’s such a great message to give to my kids when teaching them the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Frank inspired me to share with you how I make time for good health in my family. As a Mum on-the-go, these tips help keep me feeling beautiful inside and out!

Get Your Vitamins In
I’ve been taking the Caruso’s Women’s Super Multi for years now, and it’s really become part of my morning routine. I used to struggle to remember to take supplements, but working it into your daily schedule is the key to consistency. I wake up, drink a glass of water (for that healthy glow) and take my vitamins before I even check my phone. Once it’s a habit, you’ll never forget.

Smile
I’ve learned to love my smile – when you’re a Mum, you’re so focused on keeping your kids happy and healthy that you naturally get over a few of those nagging beauty hang-ups. It sounds silly, but making time to smile, either at my girls, at my husband, or at a stranger in a shop makes all the difference. Mental health is just as important as physical health. Remember what you’re grateful for, and smile about it!

Hydrate
Another part of my beauty routine is hydration. Lots and LOTS of water. I try adding some mint or lemon in my water to give it a nicer flavour – and the infusions are really good for you too. Try citrus fruit for detoxing, berries for a low-fructose sweetness hit, or grapefruit to rev up your metabolism.

Go for Collagen
Collagen seems to be on everybody’s mind in 2018 – and it’s no surprise. Collagen is what’s responsible for healthy hair, nails and skin, and taking a collagen builder supplement can help your body support its natural production. I take Caruso’s Super Collagen Builder, which is a powerful mineral and antioxidant formula packed with essential nutrients to give you that healthy, glowing look. Forget brittle nails and split ends – using a collagen builder can strengthen even the weakest nails. As for my skin – ladies, it’s never looked so good!

Eating The Rainbow
It sounds cliché, but the more colours on your plate, the better. I try to eat veggie-packed meals every day, and make sure the girls’ lunchboxes are packed full of nutrients too. Not only will your skin thank you for it, you’ll find yourself with buckets of energy, and an immune system that can sustain the winter chill.

Have you tried Caruso’s? What’s your favourite product? The range is available in over 3,000 pharmacies and health food stores throughout Australia, so get started on your winter health kick!

Cheers to You Cupcakes

April 01, 2018
Im sure Im not the only one who loves Jelly beans? Check out this CUTE easy party dessert using Jelly beans!

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
¼ cup finely chopped coconut
¼ cup white coarse decorating sugar
1 can (450g) vanilla frosting
Blue food colouring
1 sponge cake (400g)
½ cup Jelly Belly jelly beans in Berry Blue
Toothpicks

Directions:

Lightly brush the rim of four 8 ounce martini glasses with the corn syrup. Dip the rims of the glasses in the chopped coconut and set aside.

Spoon 2 tablespoons vanilla frosting into a small zipper bag. Press out the excess air and seal.

Put the remaining vanilla frosting a bowl and tint light blue with the food colouring. Cover the frosting with plastic wrap to prevent drying.

Place the sponge cake on a clean work surface, flat side down. Slice horizontally into thirds to make 3 thin layers. Use a 10cm round cookie cutter, cut out 4 circles of the sponge cake. Take the scraps of cake and cut into 2cm pieces.

Heat the bowl of frosting in the microwave, stirring frequently, until the frosting is the texture of lightly whipped cream. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the melted frosting into each martini glass and swirl the frosting to coat the inside of the glasses.

Let frosting sit for a few minutes to set, and then working with one glass at a time, add some of the chopped cake to fill the bottom of one glass. Top with a cake circle, pressing down to make sure the cake is lower than the rim of the glass. Pour the remaining melted frosting on top of the cake in the glass to cover.

Garnish the blue glasses with a row of the blue jelly beans along the inside edge of the glass. To make the olive, trim the green fruit gem into an oval. Cut the red jelly bean in half crosswise. Attach one half of the red jelly bean, cut side against a short end of the green candy oval for the olive and skewer with a toothpick. Place on top of the glass.

Is your child a picky eater? Five ways to make mealtime fun and healthy

March 29, 2018
If your child is fussy about their food, it can lead to tears, tantrums and frustration (and that’s just for the parents!). Blackmores’ Superkids Cook and mother of three, Bianca Slade from Wholefood Simply, shares her top tips on making meal times easier and more enjoyable for the whole family.
It may not be much comfort, but if your child is a picky eater, know that you’re not alone. It is estimated up to half of all children, from the toddler years to around 12 years of ageare fussy about their food. Whilst they become less fussy as they get older, it’s important to ensure that your child is getting enough nutrients on a daily basis, to help support healthy growth and development. Some reports show that picky eaters weigh less than their less-fussy friends, so it’s important to figure out how to fill up your kids with the right amount of good foods.

1. Try, try, and try again
Yes, your child may turn up their nose at your lovingly-crafted carrot sticks, but persevere. Research shows that kids need to be exposed to a certain food between eight to 15 times before they’ll try it and accept it.
2. Eat as a family
If your child has an older sibling, and even better, one who eats a wide variety of food, then serving the same meals to both can help your picky eater become a little more adventurous. And sit down together as a family to eat – conversation can distract your child from their meals, plus they’ll copy what the ‘grown-ups’ are doing.
3. Hide the goodness
Your child may not like broccoli or cauliflower, but they love Bolognese or pizzas. Steam and blend some nutritional superfoods and add into homemade soups and sauces to ensure your kids are getting the goodness, but without the fuss.
4. Turn superfoods into tasty treats
If it’s difficult to get your children to eat their fruit, think outside the box. Or in this case, into ice blocks. Blend bananas, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries, with water or milk, and turn the concoction into ice blocks (you can buy the mouldsat supermarkets) for a nutritious and fun afternoon treat.
5. Boost their diet
With just one in 20 Australian children getting enough serves of fruit and veg every dayit’s important they are getting all the required nutrients to support kid’s healthy growth and development. The Blackmores Superkids® range, including Superkids® Multi Chewablesare 99% sugar freeand have a naturally delicious taste to help balance out kid’s patchy diets.
