Q&A with CameLife founder, Dr Jane Rose

As summer approaches, it is the perfect time to really get stuck into a good skin care routine and find the best products to help us achieve this. CameLife Skincare - a new premium skincare range in Australia using the world’s oldest superfood, Camel Milk, to nourish and revitalise your skin.

Today we bring you more on this brand; Get yourself a cuppa and enjoy our Q&A with Founder, Dr Jane Rose.

When I first heard about your brand I was so excited to try this. Tell us more about how you started your camel milk skincare line?
CameLife came about when I was visiting Israel with fellow vet Dr Pauline Roberts. We were there to research camel dairying and husbandry and met innovative scientists and product developers who were working on a range of complementary treatments, skincare products and cosmetics using camel milk as the key ingredient.
From that visit, The Australian Camel Milk Company was conceived, and CameLife skin care is the first brand we have launched.

Tells us more about you and your wonderful team?
A core team of three includes myself, Dr Pauline Roberts and Richard Williams.
I am a veterinarian with a professional interest in skin, having worked in dermatology for over 20 years and taught at a leading US university. I’m a passionate advocate of natural skin care.
Dr Pauline Roberts is a veterinarian, working with the Australian farming community. She is a leading advocate for the sustainable, ethical and productive farming of Australian camels.
Richard Williams is a professional engineer and project manager.

Why is Camel Milk the way to go?
Camel milk is the world’s oldest superfood.

Key properties include its low, naturally homogenised fat content which promotes absorption, high levels of Essential Fatty Acids and Vitamin C, and protective proteins that appear to remain active in the creams. Camel milk also has a natural antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effect, acting as an antiseptic and helping to prevent skin infections.

A key attribute of camel milk is its bio-availability i.e. its ability to penetrate the top layer of the skin or epidermis. Because it is absorbed quickly through your skin, the natural Vitamin C, fatty acids and protective proteins in the milk go where they are most needed; deep into your skin.

The Omega fatty acids reduces inflammation and stimulates skin repair, whilst Vitamin C aids collagen synthesis and acts an anti-oxidant to remove free radicals built up due to environmental aggressors.

How many products do you have available and what’s your most popular?
There are seven products in the new CameLife skincare range, and they include a gentle facial cleansing bar, a soothing eye cream, restorative face serum, nourishing night cream, a super anti-aging lightweight day cream, a rich body mousse and a healing balm.  Each product contains a blend of camel milk and other natural ingredients including Avocado and Sweet Almond oils, plant botanicals and seaweed extracts to nourish the skin.

Our two most popular products are our solid Facial cleansing bar and our Restorative serum.   Our solid cleansing bar leaves your face cleansed and mositurised, not dry and tight.  Our amazing serum, goes in and gets to work, restoring skin texture and tone, not leaving any greasy residue on the surface of the skin.

We all want to stop ageing, what tips do you have for us?
A key tip would be to use skin care products that contain natural and bio-available ingredients that nourish and nurture your skin.

In our Restorative range, we use camel milk as a vehicle to carry premium quality, proven anti-ageing skincare ingredients to where they are most effective; deep in the skin.  Camel milk is rich in long-chain Omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids, which are highly nourishing, moisturising and anti-ageing.

We add further premium, targeted anti-oxidant ingredients to our Restorative range specifically to enhance the milks natural boost to collagen and elastin production, targeting wrinkles, fine lines and blemishes.

Camel milk is said to stimulate the microcirculation in the base layers of the skin.  We don’t fully understand how, but we see and feel it every time we apply Restorative Eye Cream.  Its effect on black lines and bags is almost instantaneous; the de-oxygenated blood that causes the ‘blackness’ is rapidly replaced, leaving the eyes feeling refreshed and the black gone.

What’s coming up next for CameLife?
2018 will be a very exciting time for CameLife and our skin care range.  We are currently working on several innovative anti-ageing face care products.  We plan to launch in early 2018 an anti-pigment facial cream, using camel milk with some very interesting plant based ingredients.
Alongside this we plan to launch a unique Botox alternative, topical wrinkle filler. The wrinkle filler is applied via a syringe with no injection necessary.   The target audience for this product is both men and women who want to reduce expression wrinkles naturally, effectively and in minimal time.
We are also developing our hand, body and foot creams, utilising higher levels of camel milk to treat dry, damage and irritated skin.
