As you probably know by now, we’ve suddenly become THE ROADTRIP FAMILY! We took a gamble and road-tripped from Sydney to the Gold Coast with the girls recently, and by some miracle, we didn’t kill each other. So before we knew it we were on the road again bound for Melbourne – another great experience. Needless to say when the chance to visit Woods Farm in Jervis Bay just 2.5 hours from home, we jumped at the chance. We are pro-road-trippers-with-kids now – 2.5 hours is childsplay!
We stayed in a cottage, each of which has 3 bedrooms and sleep a maximum of 8 guests (2 Queen beds, 2 Singles, 2 Day Beds). The four of us were very comfortable, even with all our road trip luggage! The fully equipped kitchen and decked out bathroom and laundry had everything we needed and more to enjoy a restful break away from home. Space is something I really value as a family traveller – there’s nothing worse than trying to have a break and squeezing into a tiny space. Not relaxing!
Anyway, space was no issue here, that’s for sure. The cottage also
have their own outdoor dining area with a patio, BBQ and firepit, which made for cute family memory-making once the sun went down.
All the cottages have their own name – no faceless numbers here. We were lucky enough to be given the Farmhouse Cottage. Take note if you ever visit!
Woods Farm itself is a hub of activities, from morning yoga to animal feeding. On offer were arts and crafts classes, walking trails into the secret forest, bike riding, swimming, games and chill-out zones – pretty much everything a busy family needs. Relaxation for Mum and Dad, and fun and games for the little ones. The girls had the best time!
Something we really loved was the chance to show the girls real authentic produce. You’re able to pick your own herbs, vegetables and fruit, and enjoy fresh eggs from the resident chooks to cook for breakfast. You can start your morning by feeding the animals, and even have a little cuddle if they’re feeling friendly. By night, gather around the fire to roast marshmallows, and sleep easy with a full belly of smokey wood-fired pizzas. Delicious!
Our stay was short but we had such an amazing time. The fresh air, real produce and chance to connect with nature was a really refreshing change from our recent city breaks!
